Re Castle Failure: I had a day nearly identical to that when I was in Italy. One is so reliant on functional train station lockers! They don't even exist in Victoria outside Flinders Street/Southern Cross. I feel your pain acutely, but hopefully you can think of the experience as 'the worst day' and know that everything else that happens during your trip will be better.

I laughed rather quiltily at your comment about not having candles on Christmas trees in Australia. We have always put candles on our Christmas tree on Christmas Eve - fire ban or not! When you said you wee going to Denmark I got all excited for you... but you never mentioned that you were going to Jutland!! Now I'm all sad for you.
