The gold roofed building is Les Invalides - and yes, real gold! It's now a military museum but was originally built by Louis XIV as a hospital for his invalided soldiers. It's also where you'll find the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte.

I agree! I've been taking heaps of photos in black and white lately. I don't normally do it, but it just seamed to look good. You can leave your messages about all of the pictures here, I know it's not the same, but I'll get read all about it!

The photos all have their full captions now. I think it was just a glitch in the system when they were changing it over.
