Spent a year at Beni Suef AB (1999-2000) working with Egyptian Air Force. It was an interesting tour of duty.

I am quiet surprisied!!! why had you deleted my message from the questbook. Did I offend you in any way! or, is it because I am not praising your work in Beni Seuf. I am amazed!!You are conforming the feelings I had towards your service. Anyway stay cool.

Hello Ryan, Ezayek? How is life in Beni Suef? I was searching on the internet for Beni Suef and found your page. Still remember me? I had a great time in Beni Suef, special the Christmas with Michaels family! I wish you a very good Easter in Beni Suef, that will be very special! I wish I could celebrate the Easter to in Egypt! God bless you, Ann

Hello Ryan, I have been very keenly reading your journals, and think the work you are doing is lovely ( note I do not say awesome!!!). I do however find the thought of a Canadian teaching other people to speak English quite amusing. I have just aquired a new pen-friend who is from Beni Suef, and working in Giza. His aim is to better his English. I find that when he writes to me,although he is quite good,he writes very American. I do have family in America,so I am used to hearing it,and think the slang words, not awsome, but awful. I hope to put my Egyptian friend right. Keep on writing though,as I enjoy your travels. God be with you..Sandy.

Hey Ryan, just got onto this traveljournals site. It's so neat to hear about some of your adventures there in Beni Suef. I was the SALTer there two years ago. I talked to Marvet (the woman who lives there at the center). Thankfully I've been able to keep up my arabic so was able to talk with her for some time. She says that your arabic is really good. Awesome!!!! Anyways, God bless as you continue to serve Him there in Egypt. Take care. John.

Hi there, I was in Chicoutimi for the Language Bursary program in 2002 and like you, had a blast. Reading your journal has been like a trip down memory lane for me. I'm so glad to see that others are still enjoying this wonderful opportunity and community. Thank you for sharing your journal!

Wow Ryan - it was great to caught up on your adventures! I was enjoying reading so much that I had to go to my fridge and pull out some pita and hummus to really get into it. It is great that you are doing these updates. Jeff and I toured up Fernie yesterday (hill isn't open) and I was reminded when you guys did the same before the hill opened. Hope you are well and keep up the adventures - oh I wish I could of gone snorkelling!

Dude, You're in Egypt! I'm so jealous, I've wanted to wander the desert for years now. Well, Happy Halloween and all that. Oh, and by the way, how are you faring without skin pigment? Are you just constantly in a state of sunburn? See ya around, Putz!

Hey Ryan, I work with your Dad at EEDC and he sent a bunch of us the link to your site. It's great to read about your adventures. What wonderful memories you're building! Good choice to take a year away from "regular" life and be of service else where. Enjoy! I look forward to reading more.

Hi Ryan! Sounds like you're having an tremendous experience. It's been great to read about all of your exciting adventures. Especially when I was inside sitting at a desk in the BioSci building all summer! Now that it's september I'm trying to get back into what I like to call the edu-groove. Not nearly as exciting as you. All the best!

Hey Ryan, love your travel blog--it was fun to reminisce as I read your entries. By the way, I was at that outdoor ballet, too. Even crazier, I ran into Tal from my class on the street earlier that day. Who knew Montreal was such a small place. Anyway, best of luck with orientation and Egypt.

Hey Ryan, You'll be learning kids' stories in French and Egyptian! Somehow I don't think you'll find Donald Duck in Egypt though... Maybe Ibrahim the camel?? Scott

Hey Ryan, did you like Donald and the magic wand? Because I have it at home, so if you miss those French children books, I can lend you Cendrillon, La nouvelle toge de l'Empereur, La princesse qui ne riait jamais, La soupe au bouton, Pinocchio, Dingo et le poisson magique, Mickey Gulliver, and many others! Ryan old man, I am gonna miss climbing those mountains without you, but I will continue your climbing legend with some other poor unfit folks that I will drag to the summit. Cheers buddy and have an awesome trip and know that I will pray for you all the way. Also make sure you bring me something back from Egypt when you go there, even if its king Tut's toilet seat.

Ryan, Parlez vous francais ("Parley" was a nice touch). By the way, your email from this website looked like a computer virus mail out--confusing and garbled. Might want to do it again from another address. Look forward to more stories. Scott
