Looking Back to the Good Old Days !!!
I used to live in Gatbo, Bacon Sorsogopn many years ago. In fact, I took my 2nd year of High School in the small little barrio of Gatbo where my mother originally came from. Life there was very basic compared to city life . If you don't work, you don't eat ! If you have no land to plant crops you either fish or do the copras to be able to have something on your table for dinner. Luckily, my grandfather owns hectares of land where he had coconuts, pineapples , bananas & cassava root crops. So all his children ( my uncles & aunties )including my mom can live thru all these and can even sell most of the crops for extra money. But I used to see my mother in her small coffee shop doing barter system with other farmers in exchange for other basic necessities like rice, oil ( from coconut ), poultry products , firewood and even for newly caught fish , fresh carabao's / pig's meat. This way of living I had seen before is what I greatly missed now. After all these years .. Growing up in the city and now living here in Singapore, farm life... the very basic way of living is not a common sight anymore. I'm looking forward to seeing , feeling and experiencing the basic life again and I do hope soon.... | | | |
