I also volunteered at Sanlaap in Calcutta so it was so fun to see your pictures. The pictures of the children who lived next to the sewer broke my heart because they were so dear to me.....it's wonderful to see how they've grown. The same goes for the girls at the shelter. It's wonderful that you painted the walls in their sleeping room.....it was too institutional last time I visited. Also...seeing pictures of Suchrita...wow....it takes me way back to my journey in Calcutta a few years ago. I'd love to get in touch with you to chat about the changes being made at Sanlaap. I was the first group of volunteers to work in the Drop in Centers and girls shelter. I'm interested how they've structured the volunteer projects and how it's being run. If you get a chance to send me an email I'd love to hear from you!!! I'm planning on taking a group of volunteers to Sanlaap next spring and would like to be updated by a recent volunteer.
