Hiya Shell, great to hear you enjoying yourself! What does starfish taste like?? The guy who i sit next to in work, Shailesh, was quite intrigued by that as he had just seen something on TV about a new Tescos opening in China with lots of weird food in it or something. I think you could go far with the Kung Fu Lungers Shelly, keep it up lol. Went bowling with work last friday, was soooo much fun! I won the first game, and then came a very close second to Tom in the second game so we need to have a tie at some point. I love my new seat in work! Although the girls on the other table are fab, they're mainly quite quiet so it's nice to have some loud joking and stuff now and again. Even if i am surrounded by guys lol. Was thinking about using that phone number thing of yours but decided not to cos i thought it might be like talking into a voicemail and i would probably ramble and talk nonsense and not have a point to what I'm saying. Hope you're still having an amazing time anyway honey. Keep uo the photos and blogs xXxXx

Hi Shelly I’m enjoying your journal entries (very witty) and pictures (very jealous), could I request some basic photos: your room, the university etc. It’s OK mums to far away to tell you to tidy up! The six nations rugby has started, alas not to well for us on the result side, but the performance was OK, given the players available. Its golf season and yes mums threatening to have some lessons! Time to call her bluff I think. How’s the group bonding coming along? Are the friends in the pics going to be located near you after your Beijing training has been completed? We are experiencing some Beijing type weather presently, with the possibility of snow later in the week; perhaps I should treat myself to a Shelly style coat!! I’m glad thinks are going well for you, the guys in work are getting a full report of events, whether they like it or not. Take care Dad XxXxX

Hi Shelly! Well no grapes and 'nice' ham on my shopping list this week! In fact, Dad and I are having a 'practice' weekend on our own - Nic and Andy have gone to Chester for the weekend with Bert. I have two bits of what Grandpop would call 'useless information' but they made me smile. Here goes with number 1- We popped into Cardiff yesterday (which was busy with Irish rugby fans cos Ireland are playing Wales at the Millenium Stadium today)and there was a young man wandering around carrying a huge sign saying 'FREE HUGS'. I resisted the urge to claim one (DAD was with me!) but we watched for ages as other people(lads and lasses of all ages) went to claim theirs. He certainly put a few smiles on people's faces - great idea eh? The second story was on Red Dragon this week and made me smile as I drove to work. Apparently the council in Flintshire have been gritting the roads with a new type of grit made from molasses. Trouble is the local sheep have become addicted to it and as soon as the gritting lorries have been the sheep can be seen jumping over fences and congeregating in their hundreds on the road to eat the sugar rich grit and apparently causing a major hazard on the roads as they seem very reluctant to move. Mel told the story much better than me and I did check it wasn't April 1st before I recounted the tale in work. Hope you've had a good weekend. We're just off for a walk with Amber making sure we're back for the rugby this afternoon. I think some crispy chips from Barry Island are on the menu for lunch. Lots of love Mum and Dad xxxxx Do you have lessons at the weekend?

Hi there! Well, life certainly sounds exciting in your neck of the woods! Great photos too. I've printed them off to send to Grandpop - I know he'll be in awe of you. Can't believe it's only a week since we took you to Heathrow to begin your adventure. You've sure been busy since then and your mandarin vocabulary is definitely improving which is more than can be said for our French! Any more expeditions planned or is Chinese New Year the next landmark? It should be spectacular if the pig bread is anything to go by. Have you come across a 'sweet and sour' stamp yet? A completely random question now - is your new friend Amy from the UK and will she be going to the same placement area as you? See, you might be half way round the world but you still can't get away from your inquisitive Mum!!! Carry on having a great time and take care. Loads of love Mum and Dad xxxxxx
