Hello
Thanks for taking a couple of minutes and reading my travel journal.
I'm starting a 6 month plus adventure to Central and South America late next week. I know that I'm starting in Guatemala where I'm going to take a Spanish immersion class, going to Rio de Janiero around Thanksgiving, and flying out of Peru in March. After that I only have ideas on where I may go (if you have recommendations please let me know) but I don't have a set itinerary which for those of you who know me know how out of character this is for me. Add that to the fact that I start this trip without speaking any Spanish means I'm looking forward to growing a lot during this trip.
A lot of people ask me why I'm taking this trip. I really don't have a good answer to that question. But it starts with the simple fact that I have never been to that area of the world and I want to learn more about the culture both past and present. I am also really looking forward to some great hiking and visiting a bunch of national parks/forests and seeing a lot of unique wildlife. Plus it has been over 3 years since my last extended trip and it was just that time to pack up the backpack and hit the road again.
I have no way of knowing how often I will post entries (weekly?) and pictures but check back ocassionally for updates on my travels.
