Oh I KNEW you'd love Pikes Peak! The railroad is kind of scary/exciting and when you get up to the top - the views are spectacular and it is just so different from anything you've ever done! I wonder if you guys found it hard to breathe like Dennis and I did when we went? Not much oxygen up there (compared to Iowa, anyway!) The stadiums sounded very cool, too. Never been there! I'll be interested to hear about your day today! Fleur Drive opened up here yesterday afternoon - yippee! Classes will resume in Iowa City on the 23rd - they have some major cleaning up to do over there. Now the Big Muddy (just call me Chevy Chase!) is causing all kinds of problems in Quincy, Hannibal and St. Louis. Sounds like they are more prepared than we were! Cool here last night (into the 50's) and sunny today. This is what summer should be like! Love ya Sue

Hi Anne, Your pictures look great! So relaxing. I agree with Sue Boo - have your kids take your photo too! The camping sounds like a lot of fun. Hope the boys are feeling better. All is well here. Miss you! Wendy

It's 75 and sunny today - for the third day in a row, can you believe it????? I haven't infringed on TK's privacy yet, I may give him a call tonight to see if he is doing OK or needs anything. Hope you guys are having a great time! I'm with mom - be sure the kids take YOUR picture, Anne! We need to see YOU on vacation, too! No more news from here. We are dry and happy!

Just finished looking at the pictures again. They are so good!!! Of course you have some good looking travelers along with you. Have one of them take a picture of the "Captain of the Crew" so we can see how she is enjoying the trip. She sounds like she is having a real good time. Keep the reports coming because it feels like we are enjoying the trip with you. We will be going up North this weekend for the Negus reunion so I hope we get some good weather for traveling. Love, Mom and Dad - Grandpa and Grandma.

That looks like SO much fun! I'm jealous of you guys. Wonderful weather here, too - with a little luck, your basement should be bone dry. High in the 80's, breezy and sunny! Downtown Des Moines was evacuated yesterday as a precaution, but the rivers are on their way down - nothing was dramatically flooded until this morning, when a levee over by North High School failed. Those people were evacuated mostly yesterday and were flooded in 1993, so they knew what to expect. Cedar Rapids - there's a different story. Tammy and Tony are fine - however, over 400 city blocks are now flooded including city hall, fire stations, hospital, Quest offices, etc. - a railroad bridge collapsed with 18 railroad cars on it. They are down to 21% of their water capacity, 10,000 people evacuated, 15,000 without power...it goes on and on. They have evacuated most of Coralville as the levee broke on the Coralville strip. Also closed down classes for a week at U of I, all bridges across the river in Iowa City are closed, etc. etc. Don't mean to alarm you - and don't be alarmed, because other than the Cedar and Iowa rivers, the rivers are NOT rising any more! But wanted you to not miss out on exciting news! Can't wait to read about the rest of your adventures!

Last checkin at the house. Everything fine, nice and cool and cool outside, too! I watered as many flowers as I could see, made sure the food and water dishes for the kitties were full, brought in the mail, left you some supper/breakfast......and a CRYPTOFAMILIES BOOK! The zoo and campground look great. It really sounds like you've had a great albeit whirlwind time. We are busy - wait - I AM BUSY - doing laundry, finishing dishes, packing, worrying about what I'll forget tomorrow..... Today at work the clock barely moved....we are SO ready for vacation! Love ya - have a safe trip back! Sue

Thursday! You will be home sooner than you want to be, I'm sure! House report - fine, cool, all OK. Cats - Bennie loves the top bunk downstairs. I made the mistake of picking a catnip leaf outside and then petting him - and when I left he was basically nipping out as we like to say! Mooey meets me every time I stop over, right at the door. I'm probably contributing to his weight problem as he seems to be eating TONS! Will check once more tonight to make sure all is well. We are off at 8:00 tomorrow morning! Love Sue

Looks like lots of fun at the Wonderland place. Sorry it was so hot and stormy. But that makes the water rides more fun. We have Great weather here today (Wednesday) - high of 79 supposedly, haven't had any rain yet, though. Kitties both OK. Moo cow loves me, always is there at the door waiting. However, I must coax Bennie out every time. House cool, no problems. Will mail letter tomorrow. Have tons of prep to do for our trip and am kind of apprehensive about driving thru Chicago and making connections for the kids, etc. also getting Alex to the train on Monday but we will figure it out! Love ya Sue

Hey, watch coming back into the US. You can't bring any meat, dairy, fruits, etc. I bought us a bunch of beef jerky and we can't take that INTO Canada either so we'll need to be eating that up before we go! Limit of $200 per person duty-free coming back into US - but that probably won't be a problem - limit on booze and tobacco but once again, no prob. Sounds like you are having an adventure! Good bonding time.... Cats are fine, trying to resurrect your begonias or whatever they were in the garden. Nice and cool in the house so far! :-) Love ya Sue

Sounds like you've had plenty of activity already. Glad you made all your connections. Be careful and enjoy all the rest of the things that you will see. We hope you take plenty of pictures that we can see when you get home again. Give each other a hug from us!!! Mom & Dad....Grandpa & Grandma
