Hi Kim,What a bus ride from La Paz to Uyuni. I don't think you'll complain about the roads in Sonoma County anymore! The salt flats sound amazing. I'm suprised it was so cold. I'm glad you finally made it to Argentina. I can't believe you got fake money from an ATM machine! That means someone from the bank must have put the fake money in there. Oh well, luckily it wasn't more than $50! The Iguazu Falls are supposed to be just spectacular. I'm glad you'll have a full week in B.A. Glad things are going well. We're all doing fine up here. See you soon! love, Dad |

Hey Kim,
Wow! that bike ride down "Death Road" sounded spectacular. 70km is a long ride with quite a steep descent. That's great everyone did it and no one fell.Good bikes do make a difference! That could be the most amazing bike ride you'll ever go on in your life.
I'll bet everyone had fun on the ATV's. I've never ridden on one but they look like fun.
Salar de Uyuni, the salt flats, sounds pretty amazing too and I've heard Iguaza Falls are spectacular. So I hope everyone stays healthy and safe and I'm sure you'll love your stay in Buenos Aires.Everyone here is doing well.Mom and I made it home safe and sound from our trip. We all send you our love. Dad |

Hi Kimmy. Dad and I have been camping with absolutely no internet access, so today is the first day we've been able to check your journal. I was so anxious to hear all about your adventure. How exciting that trip must have been !!! I'm so sorry you were sick; you never are, but at least you were able to rally and do the hike. I can't imagine hiking at 15,000 feet! At least the porters were able to carry all your main gear. I can't wait to see your pictures. And I'm glad you found a way to get into Bolivia. As you know, while traveling you have to be flexible and at least you had options to get into Bolivia. Dad and I are having a great trip. We have seen some gorgeous country in Utah; what a beautiful state. Have fun and I can't wait to hear all about your next adventure. Love you!!!! Mom |

Hi Kimmy,
Sounds like a fabulous trip to Macchu Picchu. Sorry to hear you were sick the first day but that happens sometimes when you're traveling. Glad you toughed it out and made it. Sounds like it was a great trip, especially with the two other couples. And a good guide and some help carrying all your bags, wow! 15,000 feet, that's amazing. That's really getting up there. That's quite a feat! It's certainly at the top of my list of places I want to see. Cusco sounded great as well. I hear it's an amazing place. What a fantastic trip so far. I'm glad you made it into Bolivia and La Paz. What is the elevation of La Paz? Isn't it something like 12,000 ft.? That's amzing to have a city at that elevation. I'll bet the Andes are just stunning. Enjoy your stay in Bolivia and I can't wait to hear all about Argentina and Buenos Aires. Another place I'm dying to go to! Lots and lots of love, Dad. |

Hi Kim,
Sounds like you made a good choice to stay in Lima for an extra day or two. Sounds like a really neat place. I'd love to go there sometime. Nice that you got a chance to get out and really experience the culture of the town. I'll bet those apartments with the glass windows overlooking the ocean had some great views.
It's nice you met Mark, it's always fun to travel with people, especially when they speak Spanish.
Sounds like Bolivia is definitely the hip spot to go after Cusco. Cusco sounds like it will be a really cool spot. You'll really be getting up into the Andes. Should be just spectacular.
Glad to see that they love Bob Marley everywhere. You're right, he truly is the universal language.
Have a safe trip to Cusco. Can't wait to hear how you like it.
Lots of love,
Daddy-o |
