What is TEC-Y?
Trident Exploration Corp., a natural gas exploration and development company in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has created a program called Trident Exploration Corp.-Youth (TEC-Y). This is an initiative where the youth of Trident employees get the opportunity to build on their leadership and networking abilities, life skills, and social awareness.
TEC-Y has many components with the most developed branch being the Youth Global Initiative. Through this, TEC-Y members motivate thier friends, schools, clubs, teams, etc. to raise money and awareness for Light up the World (LUTW) and the Centre for Affordable Water Sanitation Technology (CAWST), two Calgary NGO's with operations in developing nations. A one time donation is helpful, but not as helpful as being able to provide money over a long period of time. Our hope is that this initiative will help provide sustainable funding that these organizations need, while branching out to other corporations and youth!

Currently, LUTW and CAWST have projects in Inida which is why we have created this travel journal. Kyla, an employee of Trident, is travelling to India from September 20th through until October 20th, 2006 and has volunteered her time to visit CAWST and LUTW projects while she is there!
We felt this was a great learning opportunity for TEC-Y members to learn about some of the developments of CAWST and LUTW in India, as well as learn about India's culture in general.
