I'm planning a trip to Peru this fall. Yours are the nicest pictures I've found that give a well rounded view of the country and the people. Thank you very much for posting them.

I don't know whether you'll get the e-card I sent so I thought I'd leave a message in your guestbook to wish you a really great birthday. Don't overdo the local brew and have a lovely day. We're all thinking of you. Best wishes, Aunt Pene, Andy & Sally XXX

Hi there Kath. Just found out from your dad that you're in South America as part of your gap year...brilliant! Firstly, many congratulations on qualifying, and I think it's very sensible you decided to practice your medical skills on the Peruvians first, giving the poor NHS a year's breathing space! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time on your travels, with many unforgettable experiences, and I'll look forward to reading your journal entries. Love and best wishes.

Hi Kat, Well I've started the new job and it is going pretty well, but every time I read you blog I get the distinct impression that I would rather be doing what your doing!! Today's was a long but very worthwhile read and I am green with envy about some of the things you have been doing. The snorkeling sounded amazing, as did the fishing and I am guessing the night skies are something to behold in areas where man made light just simply doesn't exist. In fact the only thing you can keep are the mozzies!! I am looking forward to the next exciting installment and to seeing some pictures when you get a chance to load some. Lots of love, Dad

Hi Kat, I'm thoroughly enjoying your journal entries. Sounds like you're having an eventful time. I'm soooooo jealous! Re: mozzies, if you have access to Marmite, it is said that eating a teaspoonful each day puts the mozzies off biting you. Apparently it causes you to secrete an odour that they dislike. P.S. If you need an alcohol counsellor when you get back give me a call!!!

Hi Kathryn It was lovely to hear from you yesterday, I can’t believe the line was so clear with you being so far away from home, it made a perfect end to my birthday! I am so happy you are having a fantastic time and partying around South America with a great crowd – good for you – you really deserve to enjoy the next 12 months! I love reading about all your adventures, although I’m glad you don’t let me know in advance some of the things you are doing - as that wouldn’t be doing my blood pressure any good at all! Take care, and I look forward to hearing more soon With all my love, Mom xxxx
