Hey!
I've set this up to keep you all updated with my travels. I've been going since July last year and have so far made it to 5 continents & 13 countries, worked in A&E and cardiology, kind of learnt Spanish, throw myself off a bridge AND out of a plane... and most annoyingly lost countless pairs of eyebrow tweezers to airport security.
(If you want the details, I lived in Cusco, Peru, for a month doing humanitarian work, after spending 7 weeks travelling across South America from Rio to Lima. Then I went to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand, and got myself stranded by anti-government airport protests in Bangkok... After a few stop-offs in Europe I headed to the East Coast of Australia, did a whistle-stop tour of New Zealand, and worked in Lautoka Hospital, Fiji for a month)
The last section of my travels starts in April - I'm heading to Kenya & Tanzania on safari, before doing 2 months volunteer work in Namibia and ending my trip in South Africa. I'm happy to say I've had an amazing and - cheesy as it sounds - life-changing time so far; I'm really glad I chose to take my gap year, even if it did come 5 years late. And I'm starting work where I wanted (Margate, then London) in August anyway, so luckily everything worked out ok!
So, lots of love to you all, I'll be missing everyone and looking forward to the next time I get to see you, but until then hopefully this journal will fill the Kat-shaped hole in your lives ;)
