On January 14, 2008, I'll be leaving for an 11-day trip to Nicaragua. I'll start out in the capital of Managua (may stay there for a day), travel to San Juan del Sur, which is right on the Pacific Ocean & a few hours from the Costa Rican border. I may also be traveling to Granada and Costa Rica.
The majority of the trip will be spent in San Juan del Sur, where I will be volunteering along with 4 other Simmons GSLIS students at the San Juan del Sur Biblioteca Movil. The SJDSBM is Nicaragua's first public lending library & has an impressive 10,000 title collection which it lends out to over 20 local communities. I'll help organize & catalog the library in addition to running some children's programming & hopefully joining the book mobile.
