Me (Jemma) and Taz travelled through South East Asia in 2009 :-)
The big adventure started 28th December 2008 when we flew from Manchester to Bali, all excited about the 6 months ahead of us. In Indonesia we visited 3 islands - Bali, Lombok and Gili Trawangan.
We flew to Malaysia a month later and stayed in Kuala Lumpur, went up to the Cameron Highlands where it was very very cool weather, stayed in Penang and then Pulau Pangkor.
We flew to Bangkok on the 21st February! After a flying visit to Pattaya to visit Paul and his family we spent 3 weeks climbing on Railay and Tonsai beach in Krabi. We went to Burma for a new Thai visa and visited a few small destinations on the way back up to Bangkok for our flight to Vietnam on the 4th April.
In Vietnam we have visited Ho Chi Minh City, Da Lat, Nha Trang and Hoi An. Although one of the most beautiful places, Vietnam was the least friendly.
We spent a little time in Laos to preserve some pennies for our return to Thailand for a 3 week holiday with Sarah and Anneka in June.
Our last month was in Thailand again where we managed to squeeze in a bit more climbing and spent most of our time on the islands and the hot hot south. We experience a Ko Phangan full moon party and visited Phi Phi and Bamboo island. We squished in a quick 4 day shopping trip to KL too.
We came home at the end of June 2009 .........
We're hoping to do our 2nd Asia trip next year - December to June again where we hope to start in Bali (again) and visit the Phillipines and then Thailand again - you just can't keep us away! | | | |
