I am a nursing student from the University of Kansas Medical Center. This is the travel blog of my visit and study in India (Jan.-Mar. 2007.)
The College of Nursing at Christian Medical College in Vellore, India has graciously welcomed me into their community. What was once, in 1900 at its beginning, a one bed hospital founded by Dr. Ida Sophia Scudder, has become a 2234 bed, multidisciplinary, tertiary care center. Its reputation is one of the best in all of Asia in reaching and exceeding patient care standards. It is also recognized by the Indian government as the nation's Best Employer, award given in 2003. I am honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to be at such a highly esteemed center.
