Well, I've made myself out as being a complete liar. The one thing about travelling is that you get incredibly lazy and anything that even hints at the need for concentration is feared by the independent traveller like the plague. We have also been hindered by the fact that the internet is still a relatively unknown or better yet, impractical, tool in sub-Saharan Africa. The best internet that we found in Zimbabwe, Zambia, or Malawi was an ancient computer hooked up to a guys cell phone. That doesn't exactly entice me to spend hours updating the website.
But...as promised, Heather and I have continued to update the website, albeit, not as frequently as we would have liked.
Our trip through Africa has been many many things and we've experienced the breadth of the human condition. Its been a tough, yet entirely, rewarding slog through the dark continent with its fair share of tribulations and exhilaration.
I am becoming increasingly convinced that, during one of our sorties through the ancient civilizations of South America that we picked up some form of ancient curse that has affected our ability to control or hold onto electronic devices. We are experiencing a sort of Montezuma's revenge with our digital devices whereby they spew out only garbage or do not work at all or completely disappear. We are leaving right this moment to purchase the 3rd digital camera of our compaign and have lost a considerable amount of excellent photos along the way. But hey, we've got the memories.
Ok...enough whining. Our trip has been an amazingly liberating experience for Heather and I. We've learned more about ourselves and each other then throughout our collective lives. We've settled into this travelling lifestyle and will more than likely have a far different, and fulfilling life upon our return.
We miss everyone and would like to see as many guestbook entries as possible from everyone. We really enjoying reading them and it continually gives us a boost to see new ones. Keep em coming!!! And for those of you who haven't yet put up an entry: GET ON WITH IT!!!! Viewing these amazing pictures isn't free you know!!!
Putting promises aside for the moment, we will endeavour to update this site as much as we can.
Merry Xmas to everyone and all the best in 2004. GO LEAFS GO! I guess if I come home to enjoy the playoffs and the Leafs don't win the Cup then everyone will probably blame me and my curse. Ah, well!!! Cheers!!! | | | |
