I like your blog a lot, I use to live in Ica and seeing your pictures brings back memories, keep up the good work…

Susan, Spurred on by your dad's urging, I looked at many of your pictures. I can tell that this PC experience is having and will have a long-term effect. Your decision to take a break and come back again for another year says, too, that you are finding this "job" in Peru challenging (although at times frustrating) and fun. Keep it up. It's admirable. Hi Susan, I enjoy your blog so much. You have had so many fabulous adventures and more to come. Someday you must publish (as your dad did). It makes fascinating reading. A Former Neighbor, Sue

I love your journal and pictures. I'm originally from Peru, but I live in the US. I laugh so hard reading your journals since I know how live is there in Peru and how different it is. Anyway, love the pictures too, it makes me remember many stories that I have as well.

Sue: I enjoyed reading you latest journal entry and looking at all the latest posted photos. All the photo's were interesting and many were of a quality worthy of National Geographic -- I esp. liked "NG, I'll need a job ....", "Niepos at Night", and "River". It was good to know that you had a festive birthday party enjoyed by "all the family". And thanks for including a photo of one of the trees I planted; I'm happy to see it has flourished. Give my regards to all the members of your host family. I wish I were younger so that I could experience the adventure of all that you are experiencing once again.

Congratulations again on your new Peace Corps position. Your photos are great. I could look at them all day. I am looking forward to when you come back to the states. Love, Barb

What a pleasure to discover your journal and photos on the internet! I spent about a month in Chiclayo as an International Farm Youth Exchange (IFYE)representative in 1968. I met a Peace Corps volunteer while there and we spent time visiting and finding out what each other's missions were. It was so nice to have a fellow American to converse and hang out with after being in Peru for about four months. Your journal recreated some of the good memories as well as the bad, but overall, very entertaining. Thanks!

I enjoyed your latest story "Perla and her trip to the Vet". I have no doubt that Bob Barker would be proud of all that you did .... but, for sure, I am even prouder. Stay healthy and happy, Dad

Hi Susan, When you were a child my family lived behind you on the house that faces B Avenue. It is fascinating to know that you have such an adventurous spirit and have had such awesome experiences. Perhaps you will continue to have such a rich life filled with service. You are a wonderful ambassador for the USA! Sue J

Susan, I hope we can get through an Easter here without snow. I loved your recent pictures. The ones of flooding are dramatic. I am afraid I will always crave some sugar but have tried to vow to remember the picture of the clouds of smoke from the sugar cane. Your tan is very impressive. I hope your projects are going well. I enjoy your full captions on the pictures. I enjoy everything you share from Peru. Happy Easter. Love, Barb

Susan Hi from New York. Dad was nice enough to send us your website of the peace corp and I could not stop reading all of your adventures. Even though there were many miles between us when you were growing up and there was not much opportunity to get to know you as well as I would have liked, you have grown into a remarkable woman. I am so proud of you and all you are doing. You show what a really caring person you are. Keep smiling even on your down or sick days. You are making your mark in the world and people will remember your accomplishments for years to come. Will write to you agian soon - Love Aunt JoAnn Sandford

Hi, Susan, I'm one of your dad's St. Lawrence classmates. Recently I read his "African Odyssey" and LOVED it! How wonderful that 40+ years later you, too, are serving in the Peace Corps. Bet you can really relate to the joys -- and frustrations -- that he tells about. Hope you're enjoying the experiences.

Susan, your recent "random writings" were just wonderful to read. I know that they described incidents or "proof"at first of concern, but the end result in reading was relief and joy your humor. As the wordplay kept on in one of the segments, I was reminded of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", a film I never saw. This title might take care of the car problem and the cat. Thanks for updating your blog. I sure hope you get funding. I know you will have given it your best shot. Meanwhile, you are having lots of interesting "adventures". Take care, Love, Barb

Hi Susan. Although it is very rainy here, I am sure Spring is not far behind. I was downtown today and saw buds on the trees. Last week they were playing with frisbees on the Pentacrest, near Old Capitol. I liked your recent pictures and cannot believe how successful your kitty is in catching those pesky mice. Very cute cat. All the pictures you take are educational and artistic/colorful as well. I have just snail mailed you; so there should be something for you on paper soon. I continue to sort my apartment (speaking of rodents - I am the packrat). Your Mom is doing exercises. I am trying to walk outside more, and am glad I can. I am just about ready to give up my clunky winter boots. Yeahhhhhh I revisit your site often and because of your descriptions and all the pictures, I feel that I have been there. Love, "Aunt" Barb

Hi Sue, I moved back from Miami Lakes to NJ where my family lives. My little grandson, 2, named Calvin, makes my life complete. I miss the Latin-American sounds and often play romantic Spanish music in my car and listen to Spanish-speaking stations, although I don't understand what they're saying. All my neighbors were bi-lingual and spoke English to me. I got away remaining ignorant. I regret it and hope you speak Spanish fluently. We recycle everything here. Hope you're doing well and that we'll meet someday. Hugs, Jane

Hi Sue: I hope all is going well. I've missed reading your journal entries for quite some time, so assume you're keeping very busy. Spring is slowly arriving here, and I've ordered lots more trees to plant at the cabin. I really enjoy viewing your photos, and especially liked the photo of your clean feet. Love, Dad

Happy belated Groundhog Day! I hope you have a merry one, even though I'm sure you've already taken down your Groundhog Tree and put the cardboard Bill Murray standee back in the closet.
