Dude,
amazing, you tell a good story. I will be cycling in vietnam for four weeks in Jan 2010 and reading your journal has helped me lots. The fact that you have ridden what you have makes my journey look so simple. So many roads and not enough time.
Nice one

Read your journals while planning my own bicycle trip to Leh / Ladakh. Good to get views about India from an outside - in perspective. If you ever come down South in India (Its a lot less hostile than the aggressive North), look me up on the way.
Wish you luck.

Happy New Year Damo. I'm in Amsterdam to celebrate the new year and having a great time. This is a perfect city for you with the bikes, the smoking (!?) and the music. There is a big outdoor dance party tonite in the centre of the city and so much i wish you were here. Wish you a great year ahead and all the best boy. Cheers* |

Hi Damo!

Mate, bout time I wrote something. Hope everything is going well. Thanks for mentioning the Pigs every now and then. I think I may join you soon as there is waaaay too many kids popping out at the moment. A footy night with the boys is now generally a wine, cheese & family night. Unbelievable!! Anyways mate, send me an email when you've got some spare time. All the best. Ricko |

Should the last line of your most recent story read: "...and then I woke up"? hahahaha... keep it going mate, loved the image your story provoked of a gangly white fella running around a cow-patty type pitch being chased (or chasing, if I know you correctly!) little indian kids with a backdrop of mountains. Reading your story gave me a craving for some Indian food! .... and a mango!
Whilst you are in the part of the world I could recommend a book (not sure if you have time to read or could be bothered, or even if you could find it!) called Himalaya by Michael Palin of Monty Python fame and now a BBC documentry traveller. Its an easy read that gives a give overview of the Himalaya area and vast array of cultures that it nutures.
Keep it real Dangles,

Damo, still extremely envious. And when did you turn into such a great photogropher. Worried about your lifestyle though. I've had a word to your mum and brither - they're concerned too. Hanging out with naked Czech guys and Swiss cyclists called Hans....
Hope you're having a ball mate. Keep up the journal entries, they are read religiously. Pretty much whenever you respond to a pigs email I check the site.

Hi there Damian, I know mum enjoyed herself as well, but i got more news about her visit from your journal! Adapting to the local circumatances and re-jigging plans is all part of the travelling experience -- go with the flow.I am back in Australia in July and will, like you, savour the closness of my family before taking up my experince again. Work contacts for you in AB are organised -- give me two weeks notice of arrival. I look forward to your story from "the top of the world".

Well done Damian on achieving the first 10,000kms!!I know your outlook on life will never be the same again. Challenging ourselves on numerous levels is what develops us. I hope my outlook on life will also be different after my AD experience. You are writing with such passion, elegence and with an eye for detail that reading your journal is a pleasure. Keep well in the next 10,000km.

Wish I could come over an join you for a leg mate - You really have given yourself a great gift. One that hardly anyone in the world would have. Wish I could be there.
Hopefully a Pigs GF victory will give you a bit of a hug.

Hi Damian
Your latest journal touched me as i know exactly how you are feeling. I am looking forward to some visitors soon. Your photography skills certainly show the great beauty of Laos. The scenery is so different from where I am. Keep focused and well and I hope another "gift" presents itself.
