Welcome to our travel journal. We are beginning an adventure on the road "full timing"in our Newmar Dutch Star motorhome. We invite our family and friends to tag along.

A word of introduction to our new friends. My wife Carmel was offered early retirement from her company during a sale of the firm. She was a Senior Buyer in the pipeline industry. She has been waiting for me to catch up although I am much older !

I (Jim) just retired in July, 2008 from a global engineering and construction firm after 20+ years in the U.S. and abroad. I'm a Marine veteran and also a former peace officer.

Two years ago, we purchased a used 2004 41 foot Newmar Dutch Star diesel pusher coach and began planning for the day we could leave the sticks and bricks house behind for the open road.

Today, October 25, 2008, we are in the last stages of cleaning out the house after several days of moving and garage sales. We're loading the Dutch Star next week, mounting some new tires and will be off to our first destination as "full timers". We're headed for Big Bend National Park across the state from us in Texas. We live in Richmond, Texas.

Welcome aboard. We'll try to give you an honest glimpse of our success and our blunders, and will try not to be boring.

Jim and Carmel
