It sounds like you are experiencing how the "upper" class culture lives and thinks. It is facinating to hear your perspectives. Keep us posted. | | | | I see no Comments! | | | | Hey girl!
You are now in my most favorite country of my deepest desires to visit. I'm so glad you reached safe and sound. I can't believe it took u 18 hrs to get out of the country. Tell your papa I said Hola. I think the mitochondrial person is your mama, but I forgot biology. Too bad we didn't get to talk before u left. Anyway, I'm going to miss you but it warms my heart to think about you and Eqador at the SAME TIME!! Read SAVAGES, by John Kane when you have time and keep us posted! I <3 you, my love!

I just read your latest entry - "almost done". It sounds like your are having fun and have gottent attached to the lifestyle there. It's great to know that your research has and will make a difference. We do miss you though, so it's time to get back to dear Michigan and back to school. Besides that, I am sure Rachel and Joe having been crying every day since you left. Can't wait to see you and all your pictures!
Carol | | | | I googled 'pictures from kenya' and there you were !! Am a kenyan living here in norway, and it is great you had a good time in kenya, and lived the life close to the people.
The 'no deo' line had me rolling on the floor, because I was accused of it on my first trip to America many years ago. But guess what ? it cuts both ways. The great Afro American comedian, Richard Prior, illustrated his trip to kenya this way:
Riding in a car in Kenya with a group of American friends one day, they came across a Maasai warrior hitchhiking. They stopped and offered him a lift (ride). The B.O. eminating from the Maaasai was overwhelming. After a couple of minutes, the maasai pleaded with his benefactors to let him out of the car quickly...He could not stand the stench of the Deo's, so you see, one man's deo is another man's...
Have a great time in kenya. | | | | Good description and photos of Kenya. My home is in Egerton n I was feeling homesick n googled Njoro...reading your journey made matters worse??Nah,may be better!
Have a good time | | | | Yolanda,
Love the pictures! Great job. | | | | Hey!
Thanks for the postcard. My dad read it, and said that you would be the one to get chased by monkeys. After the bomb attacks on London, my dad was like wasn't that the subway that Yolanda rode on...I was like yeah.
In other news, I've been studying like crazy; I take the bar in less than two weeks. Aunt Colette wants to go to New York in a few weeks. Right now, she's in Miami visiting Aaron, and Adam spent the night, and tried to take over the t.v.
In other other news, Derrick wants to move up here in August, we'll see if he actually makes does. Oh, I almost forgot. Derrick was up here about two weeks ago. He brought some of his deceased gradmother's china with him to give to his cousin, who lives in Bloomfield Hills. One night he parked his car, with all of the items he brought, in front of our house, and he got his car broken into. Someone stole his grandmother's china, and his radio. He has one of those detachable faces. Needless to say, he felt pretty bad, and I was pretty pissed because I didn't think anything like that happened in our hood.
Well, I hope that you are having a great time, it seems as though you are...just watch out for those monkeys;)
