Have just been looking at your india photos and reminiscing, can't believe it was twenty years since we went. Great memories of the Amber Fort, no-one else there, four of us playing hide and seek then an elephant ride down.

loving the travelogue, your nz misty mountain non-viewing reminded john and I of when we were in nepal, got up at crack of dawn to travel miles to view everest, got there and it was totally obscured by haar. We took a photo anyway. Have qualified as nursery nurse now, zoe has finished high school, rom in the middle of and alex just finished primary. John keeping the family solvent as per. Did you hear that david has downsized office to house? Off to T in the Park this w/e, forecast sunshine. I also saw Edward Scissorhands v enjoyable. Keep on keeping on. love from sheelagh n john xx

Hi Both Loving your Colonies entries, but why no photos? The campervan trip sounded a blast! We are all well, H is starting at Big School and has had a trial week, so is learning how to be teenage. Kay is still telling us what to do and Anne and I went to hear some free jazz in Smoo Cave. I love this city! Enjoy!

Hey, I remember Rowan telling me about the cinema at Wanaka when she was there 4 years ago! I gather from Ralph that you've been in Fiji and according to my itinerary you're now in California. Come on now, everyone struggling at work - "it's a hard life, but someone's got to do it"!

Yo Cobbers (limey ones at that) Got your recent card, many thanks for thinking of us while filling your heads with new sights and sounds. Funny one about Callum McLeod a cinema? Did you see Murdo in Newcastle, nr Sydney? Jeez, Inverness in the Pacific or what? I am going camping to Dornoch next weekend, if that helps. Remember sunscreen is NOT a luxury!

Thailand! I sometimes dream of Thailand. Try the Karaoke at the Chinatown Hotel. Give the tourist opium a miss. Insist on the real stuff. Watch out for the Mekong whisky. Lotsa dogs. Brilliant elephant photos. Loved the footie story. The could probably out maneouvre the ICT LB. Keep it up. And watch out for the whisky, I say again!

Need more of your diary musings to read. It's been freezing cold here, we've even had snow. Slid sleeps by my head, I've caught her contemplating getting under the duvet with me, but then deciding that's a step too far - very funny to watch these thoughts flit across her face. Amadou & Mariam not bad, but they needed Manu Chao's presence - sorry Janet, we were upstairs, sat next to a weirdy so didn't hang around afterwards - although I did keep an eye out for you and Ralph!

Finally had a chance to catch uo with you and your photos. It all looks WONDERFUL and I am sure it is as fabulous an adventure as it looks. Yet more places to add to my must go and see list. I've only been to Sri Lanka and so lovely to see Fi in her element with the elephants. Is that the lovely Lucy you are bathing at Pinnewala? Washing an elephant (Lucy) was the highlight of my trip to Sri Lanka, such a privilege. A foot of snow here at the weekend! Take care. Thank you for the postcards. lots of love Fiona xxxx.

Now you know how important you are to us all - the best way to communicate with Kath is through your guestbook! Yes, Edward Scissorhands was great, and a lovely Japanese meal beforehand. Don't know what happened to Kath and Peter for the African Soul Rebels concert!?! Better go and look at your latest pictures now!

Which Bangkok are you in?! Ours was filthy, can't recall thinking it resembled Paris! But agree the Golden Buddha and Wat pho temple very impressive, did you stay for a massage? Edward Scissorhands v.g. My friend Graeme sat in the Dress Circle and was well pleased to find TV show people Justin & Colin three seats away from him! I lost sight of Janet once we'd all taken our seats; must thank her for organising the meal @ Bonsai beforehand - I will go back.

Got your card, many thanks, I can see the monkey bites on it! India seems like a snappers dream! Fiona looks so pleased with herself, amongst the elephants, unshine and temples. It didn't get above freezing here today. Keep having a great time.

I've e-mailed a message, but just in case you don't get it, a truncated version here. Hope you had a great time in Rajasthan - Rowan was there when she was 17, travelling on her own, which had its hairy moments! Hope to catch up with Kath next week at the ballet. Thanks for all the vicarious excitement!

Ooooo...my aching head, combine that with a dry mouth and general lethargy and yes, its the Scots disease - Hogmanitis. The TV was poor; Donnie Munro (politician) looks very like the guy that used to sing in Clarsach, or something but with the blood sucked out of him. Many fireworks round the Crom Firth - but so what. The kids are active and we are passive and are going to see Narnia for a bit of shuteye. Your year of adventure has barely started - you know it will be a good one.
