Happy Traveling! | | | | i was very amused about what i have read in your description about Arad :).I am truly sorry you didn't manage to enjoy your stay here as much as you'd like. There are a lot of beautiful things to see in Arad, and the food is realy great, if you know where to eat. all the best | | | | Peggy, thanks for the information and kind words. I have updated the captions on the two pictures in question. | | | | Hello,
I happened to stumble upon your website at TravelJournals while I was Goggling for information about an upcoming weekend trip we're going to take here in Sweden. You've got some really lovely and interesting pictures of Stockholm, Göteberg, and Enköping. Anyway, I couldn't resist to explain to you a couple of things for you.
First, the statue of the man holding music in his arms is Evert Taube who is known as Sweden's "national poet" for his life-long career as poet, composer, and folk singer. He died in the 80's, I think. Google his name, if you're interested.
Secondly, one of your pictures had the caption "what the heck is mangling". Well, mangling is what you do with a mangler! A mangler is a machine much like the ringer-part of your grandma's old ringer-washwer. It's a big roller in which you "feed" big, freshly-washed things like tablecloths or bed sheets. You fold them while they're still damp from the laundry machine before sending them through the mangler. That way, the sheets become smooth and wringle-free, so that you don't have to iron them after they're dry.
If you're interested, I can translate some of the pictures of ads and such. Just let me know. By the way, I have a website in TravelJournals, too. Check it out if you're curious! My album name is "TripAlbum".
All the best, Peggy | |
