The worst flight ever

2005-10-22, Nazca, Peru

We arrived in Nazca this afternoon after a very hot and uncomfortable bus journey from Ica. We were met at the bus stop by the guy who had arranged our flights for us, and bought our bus tickets for the overnight bus to Arequipa. Leaving our bags at the bus station, we went off to go on our flight. After completing all the usual formalities (like signing your life away), we got onto the tiny 4 seater plane to start our flight over the Nazca lines. All the guide books recommend that you do the flight in the morning, and with good reason. It was boiling hot in the plane, and really bumpy, and none of us were feeling good at all on the flight. It was really cool to see all of the pictures, but towards the end it was impossible to appreciate anything any more, and we were all praying that the flight would be over as soon as possible, so that we could get out and back onto solid ground. After recovering from the flight, we spent the rest of the afternoon hanging around in Nazca (not all that much to do there), killing time until 10:45, when our bus left for Arequipa.
