It’s been quite some time, but so much has happened.

School had picked up and I finally have midterms and papers to look forward to. I never thought I would say that, but sometimes life on an island is too mellow for people like me who are used to the fast paced life of the states.

My roommate Wes tried out for a play at school, and got a part. I’m super excited for him.

My roommate Jordan is having family visit him close to thanksgiving, and because I miss my family so much, he has invited me to spend time with them which is also exciting.

There have been some awesome tropical storms here that are so loud sometimes I wake in the middle of night (if I’m sleeping) to the rain beating against my window. Seeing it fall on the ocean is surreal and watching the sky light up electric blue from lightening makes it even more chilling and brilliant.

Two weekends ago, I invited some friends over on a Friday night. Just a causal drinking night with a few people and some rounds of drinking games. My causal get together turned into a party an hour later with me and Lizzie popping champagne bottles and filling up enough for all of us (at least 25 of us ) to be able to make a grand toast together. What a memorable night, but one that I was recovering from the whole next day. Nich I’m sorry you had to talk to me, but you are such a trooper, thanks.

That Sunday, all of us EAP kids took a trip to the Animal Flower Caves with our awesome Liaison P.Wickham. It was absolutely amazing to be at the northern most point of the island and looking off the cliffs at the ocean. Check of the pictures please!!!

The caves are below sea level and naturally formed from limestone and coral 500,000 years ago. It was amazing to look out the openings of the caves and out at the vast atlantic ocean. Something that will be embedded into my mind forever. There was a natural pool that formed too and we took a little dip and had some laughs.

Afterwards we went to Wiser Beach near our campus, had a great lunch, and hung out on the beach all day. Lizzie and I went kayaking and spent most of the time trying to rock each other off the boat. (rock the boat, rock the boat baby, rock the boat don’t tip the boat over…) Great times. Then we played some volleyball, and I received my first letter while being here from Lindsay Rango. YAY I love mail. The letter was very exciting and had me on the edge of my seat ( or my towel actually) the whole time. That a girl!

It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

This past weekend, Lizzie and I snuck into the Hilton Hotel and laid out by the beach there on the lawn chairs reserved for guest. Eh no one knew or at least cared. We blended well I thought, but if anyone had walked into the lobby bathroom we might have looked suspicious cleaning up as if we were homeless. But we made it out without getting kicked out. He walked over to a scuba shack where our friends were taking lessons. We saw them on a boat and their instructor let Lizzie and I tag along. It was great fun liming on the boat, drinking some beers, and swimming with the tropical fishes. Some of us unsuccessfully tried to do back flips off the edge of the boat. We got back to shore and Lizzie, Rachel, Bria, Christian, Wes, and I went to Cuz’s. It’s a food shack and sells egg or fish sandwiches. I had fish and enjoyed it tons. We walked along the beach on the south coast to get to town to catch the bus home. On the way we had to get into the water inorder to swim under a bridge to get to the other side to continue our walk along the beach. Why we didn’t go around I couldn’t tell you, but trying to keep our balance while holding our belongings above our head to keep dry and treading or tip-toeing to the shore seemed like a better idea. We made it to town and I made it home. Phew…but it was worth it.

Well that’s all the new stories I have. Hopefully all is well in California.

Oh and by the way. I don’t want any friends to get upset for me not making phone calls to the states. The calls are 2 dollars American an minute which is not in my budget. I call my mom only to have her call me back, and I talk to nich for free over the internet. I made one phone call home so far to Miss Janine Moy for her birthday, but it was about a 45 second voicemail message wishing her a happy birthday which I would not have done if I had had her e-mail. But I didn’t, and I didn’t want her to think I had forgotten. So I am sorry if anyone felt offended when they found out I called Janine, but it’s not because I don’t wish I could have an hour conversation with everyone from home. Hope everyone can understand.

Also, I only have a few people addresses to send Postcards; my parents, nich, Brittany, Erica, and Lindsay Rango. I would like to send everyone a postcard but can’t since I don’t have addresses. So they will be getting one and if you give me your address too I will happily send something fun to you too. Love you all.

Best,

Pegah
