| | | Mostar to Sarajevo | | | | | The drive along the Adriatic Coast to Mostar in Bosnia Herzegovina was beautiful with inhabitant and un-inhabitant islands surrounded by crystalline waters.
Bosnia Herzegovina
Mostar was interesting as I heard so much about during the Balkan conflict and then to be there to witness the damages from the war. The town is still showing the effects of war with most buildings being pock marked with machine gun fire and gaping holes from artillery shells. UNESCO helped to rebuild the old town as well as the Old Bridge, which became very symbolic of the war itself.
Sarajevo was similar to Mostar but on a much larger scale. I was walking around town looking at the buildings that were sprayed with machine gun fire and trying to figure out what was the strategic importance. Could’t really figure that out. I think it emphasised the senseless of that war.
I stood on the very spot where Archduke Ferdinand was murdered that set of the events that led to WW1.
The food in Bosnia was amazing. Spicy meet in bread that I think I was eating 24 hours a day.
