Hello everyone. I hope all is well and everyone is doing okay in the states. I just wanted to keep everyone updated with what I was doing cause I like to keep everyone up to date with my adventures.
Not too much has happened, but there have been a few fun days worth telling about.
Friday night my roommates and I hosted a potluck at our place for the EAP students and our Bajan friends too. It was fun to hang out with everyone and have yummy food.
Saturday morning my friends and I went to Bridgetown and walked around. We looked in the stores on Swan Street and checked out what the vendors outdoors had to offer too. It’s so crowed there like a huge outdoor shopping center. They sell snow cones and ice cream on the street too, but my favorite treat so far is the coconut water. A man cuts the coconut and after you drink the milk you can eat the inside. The crazy part though was that there was this woman standing next to him and she was breast feeding her baby. She was walking around talking loud and dodging traffic while part of her nipple was hanging out and her baby was sucking away. It surprised me really. It’s yummy but it’s just a tad bit warm since its’ so hot here.
Afterward we met some of our bajan friends and they drove us the central part of the island where we had a bit to eat. When we turned down the street it was on, houses surrounded it and then I realized that the restaurant was pretty much a house converted into a bar and bbq place. It was good though with a great view.
After lunch we hopped back into our cars and made our way to Bathsheba, the east coast of the island. It is so beautiful with huge surfs. There were a bunch of surfers out and the waves are pretty cool. I met some people who live on the hill above the beach and they were all very nice. I am going to try to keep in touch with them because there is an annual pro surf competition held here and the likes of Kelly Slater come to compete. Hopefully he’ll be here this November too. The only thing about the beach in Bathsheba is that it’s very rocky and no good to swim in unless you are surfing. The rock have sea urchins and things like that living in them so it’s easy to get hurt.
Sunday was mellow, with a few hours at the beach and then we went to a bar called Habor lights. It was dollar drinks from 5-530, 2-4-1 from 530-630 , and half off shots from 630-7. The boys each drank 10 drinks by 530. I had only finished 2 by this time.
My roommate Jen and I, decided to take public transportation home despite our driver trying to tell us that he wasn’t drunk. Mom and Dad you’d be so proud. Well we got home safely despite having to walk through the red light district to get to a bus station.
Yesterday was the beginning of a new school week, and it’s been great fun. I only one class on Mondays from 4-6 so I go to the beach before hand. I had three hours of French today, I thought I was going to pass out from boredom, but I do enjoy it a lot.
Well I should be doing fun things this week. Right now there is going to be an auction held in the dorms. They are auctioning off people, and if you bid high enough to win they will be all yours for three days from 8am-8pm. I am planning on winning no doubt so I can have someone do my grocery shopping for me =).
Well, I hope all is well. New pictures will come soon I promise. Write back when you can, id love to hear from everyone.
