As film buffs, we made a few errors in choosing to come to Japan. Firstly Japanese films aren’t subtitled (foreign film are still in English, but we can’t view any local fair). Secondly, we’ve only been to the Cinema once, not for lack of want, rather lack of funds. Tickets cost a whooping $25 a head. Lastly, release dates are quite behind here, meaning that it can take years after a film has premiered in the USA to actually make it over the Atlantic. For example a “new” film has just hit the big screens, “Stir of Echoes”, a horror film staring Kevin Bacon. It was first released in the USA in 1999.
