After finishing the DTS it was time for a holiday. You may be thinking, "you need a holiday on a round the world trip?" Answer: YES!! After 6 months of discipling, mentoring, counselling, travel planning, activities organising, problem solving, bus train plane rickshaw travelling, haggling, building, and overall hard work, I was definitely ready for a break!
I headed off with Nita, my co-leader, for two weeks in Turkey and Greece. We spent a lot of time sitting on the grass under shady trees, reading our books. A lot of time was also spent sitting in the sun on the beach, reading our books. We got quite a few strange looks each night when everyone else headed out partying as we headed to bed to read our books, but we were just completely exhausted and drained.
We did manage to tear ourselves away from our books to check out some beautiful places: Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia, and the Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus in Western Turkey, and the picturesque little town of Ia in Santorini.
Well all the book reading worked, as I'm now feeling relaxed and refreshed, and ready for what's next. As I don't have much to write about except relaxing and reading books, I'll let the pictures do the talking!
Love, Gabrielle.
Next stop: Holland and Germany with my parents for 10 days.
