After a 40 hour ferry ride, I arrived in Russia this morning. The ferry ride itself was interesting: there were probably more japanese cars than people making the trip. The majority of the guests were russia, with a handful of japanese, and a smattering of the rest. I met a couple of other travelers (including some who will be with me on the transiberian) and we played lots and lots of UNO. This morning I checked into my hotel (really nice) and spent time wondering the city with two brits I met on the ferry. I'll post pictures here later and try to include some more detail but for now let it suffice that I am *dramatic pause* in Russia.
...and without remembering what I'd already written, I typed this blurb up...
After two nights on the ferry from Japan, I arrived in Vladivostok early Sunday September 4th. After checking into my hotel with some fellow travelers from the ferry we did some exploring and wound up at Eagle’s Nest, the touristy lookout spot. Most of the pictures are from here. The next day I bummed around the city (about 500,000) catching the train for an 8:00 pm departure.
