The flying Red Flag

2005-08-17, Beijing, China

Wow, China was amazing (we left the airport, sure we didn’t get further than the car park, but we left the airport, that constitutes as a visit). It was the most depressing airport we’ve ever been to. “Excuse me Miss… Um.. Miss 7429357, Can I just call you 7, no… um, sorry, I was just looking for the toilet”. Emily almost cried when they confiscated her mosquito repellant (malaria prevention), but luckily a nice officer gave it back, I think he was attempting a smile. We are here for another hour before we jet off to Bangkok. We have started out 2 year anniversary trip and we are very excited (although we don’t know if the excitement will hold up, all the planes, the transfers, the baggage inspections, etc.). We will be spending 4 days in beautiful Chiang Mai in the northern part of Thailand and we’ll let you know how it goes in a few days. Scribble a message on the guestbook. We’ve left our address book in Tokyo so if you want a postcard postmarked in Thailand, send us your address too, otherwise you’ll just get one with a Japanese stamp (or not at all). Until then, envy us with our luxury, massages and our elephant rides.
