Around (on) the World in 80 Days

Thanks to Minnie and all for the great visit and support as we packed for this trip. The cookies were great, and our wonderful Swiss friends Marianne and Stephan liked them as well. They took us on great outdoor tours of Zurich. We were shocked to find it hot in Zurich (90 degrees), but it was soooo beautiful and Robert, Stephan, and Marianne went swimming three times in beautiful clear water. Laura was still waiting for her knee scrape to heal. Soon it cooled down to the temp we had expected. We

Stephan and Marianne took us to parties with their friends and colleauges and families, and we were so impressed at their friendliness and great language abilities. They also borrowed a car (again!) from Michael and took us on a great tour around central switzerland. We are so grateful for such great friends, and look forward to seeing them in the US or other fun places on the planet! We left Zurich sadly on August 4 for London on Swiss airlines who checked our great huge luggage in and through to Cape Town for no extra charge, much to Marianne's surprise. We and changed planes to British Airways and a 11 and 1/2 hour flight to Cape Town. Nice wine and movies and slept some! Called the Ashanti Lodge and they sent a minivan to pick us up. Bruno the driver was very pleasant and helpful, as have been all the staff at this beautiful building abutting a park. A reallll party place and we have made many new friends! Will be hard to leave....
