Well, funny you should ask. Not only are things in general more expensive here, real estate is beyond comprehension. Lunch at McDonalds in the states can be $3.99. Same meal here is $5.00 US. Going to a restaraunt for lunch can be an easy $10 - $12 US. Drinks at a bar are $5.
Real Estate? That's Real Funny! Cause for only $300K you can have a nice 2 BR, 1 BA 50 year old cookie cutter home (just like the picture I uploaded) that is about 50 minutes outside of Sydney.
The reason they are so much is not for the home but the land. People are buying them for the land and replacing the homes with newer ones. This is what they have to do if they want to maintain the 1/4 acre instead of buying in a new development where they have zero land.
A flat IN town is easly $500K for something small & without a good view of the harbour.
