Monday was a most excellent day. The two noteworthy places visited
were "Old Wive's Tale" and "McMenamin's Edgefield." Using "Portland
cheap eats" and a random letter from the alphabet, Old Wive's Tale
became the dinner spot. Located near downtown Portland, I passed
several interesting spots that deserve further exploration at a later
date. The food was great, an "inventive ethic" as the food guide
says. A great alternative to the average dining experience found in
most restaurants. The food selection borders on the exotic and the
staff belong to the hip crowd. A re-visit is definitely in order!

The evening was nothing but pure splurging as I got a room at
McMenamin's Edgefield (www.mcmenamins.com). An old 1911 poor farm,
this 38-acre estate is awesome. With a plethora of things to do,
such as the 1 hour massage I took advantage of, this is a place that
will spoil you to the core. Who wants to go camping after something
like this? Crazy indeed. The next morning I dined on a delicious
breakfast at the Black Rabbit Restaurant. I can only rant and rave
so much about this place. Bottom line, when in Portland it is a must
visit!
