We really don't have a fixed itinerary for our stay in southern Africa. We fly into Cape Town, South Africa, and fly home from Livingstone, Zambia.
We have two months and plan to stay on a rock bottom budget, so we plan to be camping in the yard of hostels instead of B&Bs and hotels.
Our main focus is wildlife, but we understand that SA has the best budget traveler infrastructure. We have read that there is no public transport to the game parks, so we will either have to hitch a ride with someone, rent a car, or join safaris.
Sooo far, we have 7 days reservations to stay in our tent at Ashanti. Copy the following url and paste it in your browser. http://www.ashanti.co.za/facilities.htm . )
Laura's sister Lisa's former director at University of Michigan is now a visiting prof in Cape Town. Will have drinks with he and his wife.
They have been to Etosha and Caprivi Strip in northern Namibia within the last year. We plan to go there on way to Livingstone, Zamibia.
It would be nice to be in Cape Town at the end of 30 days from last week so that we could get hepatitis booster at one of their fine medical facilities...
But that would put us in Namibia at the start of their school holidays, which means budget lodging and compound campsites in national parks might be in short supply.....
