Day one is in the books!
So after almost missing my flight and having a two hour delay out of Philly, I finally made it into Barcelona. I really wanted to take a bus into town but after realizing that 1) I don’t know where the busses are. And 2) I don’t know which bus goes where. I bit the bullet and took a taxi. Fifty dollars later and I made it into town.
Barcelona is really a beautiful city. It has a lot of old architecture and seems to be built around tourism. My hostel is on a street called Las Rambles which is Barcelona´s strip. To put it into context, imagine broadway and pier 39 combined and hyped up on steroids….that’s las rambles. All the streets are really small yet they are lined with shops and bars. In fact, I don’t think I have ever seen so many bars. The night life here supposedly starts at around 1AM. I plan on taking a little nap and then seeing what this place has to offer. Today I spent my day walking around, getting my bearings, checking out the shops and a couple museums. I ate tapas for the first time….not that impressed. The sangria is off the hook tho! I should be in Spain for a few more days and will update this again as soon as possible. My time is running out on this thing so I have to wrap it up. Stay tuned....more details to come later! BTW...in case you were wondering about the weather, its about 80 degrees and a little humid but not nearly as bad as I thought. I´m going to the beach tomorrow with some aussies to try and stay cool...
Having fun…hope u are too
