We are on our way

2005-07-11, Pendleton, United States

Well, we finally got going this morning after cramming the car full
and getting one of those bag cartop carriers! Our goal today is to go from Portland to Pendleton which is about 225 miles.

The weather was cool and cloudy (of course) in the Willamette valley as we left, but we are all in good spirts! Pete, Kyle, Sharon and I are all chanting "road trip" every few minutes!

As we go East, the skies begin to clear!

We made our way to Hood River and stopped for coffee and check out the wind surfing. Man, the river is loaded with dozens of people zooming along on their boards. Some have these cool kite things pulling them along -- the wind is very strong today! We had fun at the Sages coffee place (see photos). Sharon said she felt like she was in the Mediterranean.

Got to Pendleton and now it's warm! Much nicer than PDX! Had to go for a swim immediately on arrival! The pool overlooks the hills and is quite nice. We had dinner at the La Fiesta Mexican restaurant in downtown. Great food. Pete ate like there was no tomorrow!

Well early to sleep tonite, big day tomorrow!
