We made it to our hostel in Cesky Krumlov after a slight detour the wrong way due to what Scott likes to call "the stupid girl directions" given to us by the hostel ... i however like to call this detour "Scott not writing things down properly" (Danielle lies... ed)...ed lies ...
Cesky Krumlov is this great little town set on the banks of the Vlatva river in a deep valley. Its really picturesque with castles on the hills and big old bridges and churches, it is really medieval and would be quite stunning if it weren´t for the millions of German Tourists milling about in their speedos.
Anyhoo, we did arrive safe and sound and after tossing our stuff in our room we decided to grab an early dinner with a couple of dormmates. The dinner turned into a night of drinking and drinking games, followed by an evening stroll/stumble through the neighbourhood, cut short by my need to go to bed.
We woke up reasonably early the next day and decided that we would do some canoeing throug the river. This was very fun, particularly when i managed to tip us over going through a rapid. One interesting note, all the way along our 15 km journey they have these little huts/kiosks set up so you can pull over for a beer, also of note, the place that we rented our canoe from did not feel it necessary to give us life jackets, and instead gave us a free mickey of some rum like alcohol. That day we also, switched hostels due to some serious snoring in our room the night before.
Next day, well it rained all day and we pretty much did nothing ... seriously ... had breakfast with some Kiwis, played on the internet, had lunch at a mexican restaurant, had a nap ... the days highlight was when we ate dinner in this neat cellar of a 13th century battlement, mmm meat... In case we haven´t yet mentioned it, the Czechs are big fans of their meats. A typical meal usually includes meat, stuffed with meat, served with a side of meat, maybe a dumpling or two, plus a few pints of beer (trust me its no joke, after you have accidently ordered chicked fried and stuffed with chcken liver you truly understand that sometimes there is such thing as TOO much meat).
Tomorrow we head out bright and early for the twon of Plzen, home to the Pilsner Urquell Brewery and Beer Museum...is anyone else starting to notice a theme here?
