hi everyone, hope all is well. shei and i are fine, just had a very relaxing 10 days or so on ko chang. for the first few it was just us as we waited for our travel companions from vietnam and good friends rob, kat, al and sal, to join us. They surprised us and came a few days earlier than expected, rocking up on the night of my birthday. it was great to have a good crew of people to celebrate with. we all had a good time. ko chang was really nice, though this time of the year is a bit stormy. we stayed in a great bungalow, hammocks swimging, reading books, swimming in the warm water, watching the world cup, etc. there were enormous mozzies though, absolutley huge, and they seemed to love our bathroom, so we went through quite a few mosquito coils. on our arrival, we were dropped off at the bus station as as we left the bus, some cops came up to rob and i and demanded to see our passports. they seemed legit so we handed them over. he immediately tucked them inside his police bullet proof vest and then pulled us aside to go through our bags. it was a very thorough inspection. they looked at everything. opening toothpastes, fim cannister, looking through all our clothes, searching all our pockets. picking up pieces of grime that had accumulated at the bottom of our bags and sniffing them to see if they were drugs. the whole time, they were interrogating us, asking if we had drugs, what drugs did we take, where they were etc etc. the guy who went through my bag even rummaged around in the dirty washing section (a task i would not wish on anybody!) looking in all the pockets, smellling all the crumbs of stuff he found. they really enjoyed their inspection. looking at anything and everything. we weren't worried cause we didn't have any drugs but still, our hearts were beating faster, cause these guys were keen to bust us. i was praying the guy was not going to pull out the rubber glove and tell me to bend over, fortunately he didn't. al, however, had gone to the bathroom, and while he was there, he was body searched, including the cop feeling around his scrotum for any hidden drugs. anyway, 20 mins later, they were done, we happly grabbed our bags and got out of there asap. now we are in bangkok, fifth and last time for this trip, tomorrow we head south to malaysia and the perenthian islands. from all accounts they are absolutley magical, sounds great. will be there a couple of weeks, then make our way to singapore and then fly to spain. shei and are loving every minute of this trip. well, not every minute, we went to the national stadium and watched on the big screen (with 1000s of thais)as argentina were eliminated from the world cup. we both felt sad, so instead of hanging with our mates, we went home to recover. we send kisses and hugs to all our family and friends ,(extra kises to those in argentina who are going through hard times) hope you are all happy and healthy, leave us a message on the guestbook if you have time, all our love sasha and sheila.
