The pictures tell today's story - from spectacular mountain views to a colorful street market in Annecy, a lakeside city about 40 miles due west of Megéve, but those 40 miles are over some impressive mountain roads, offering more white-knuckle driving. We're both looking forward to the flatlands, where drifting onto the shoulder doesn't end in a thousand-foot plunge into a valley.
The Annecy market only happens on Fridays, which is why Lennie cleverly suggested we head that way today, and it was impressive. The city would seem to be an attraction for Britons, as we saw several cars with the GB sticker and repeatedly heard Brit-sounding English spoken in restaurants and in the market.
So far we're enjoying the isolation. The cell phone service doesn't reach to Megéve, and we've yet to make our internet connection. Strangely, Doug hasn't gotten the shakes, but another day of this isolation business may be too much.
