Football (Soccer) is the most popular sport in Uruguay, and itīs a shame that their success doesnīt equal their enthusiasm. Almost every suburb has there own football tea, but the only ones playing in the first national league are those from Montevideo. There are two groups that are constantly fighting for the No.1 postition - Nacional and Peņarol. Being a fan of them is almost a question of politics, as they come from different economic backgrounds, though one seems to be as good a player as the other.

Again, enthusiasm didnīt seem to be enough to qualify them for the World Championship in Germany next year. They lost most of the qualification games, which means they stay at home. Then again, this saves them the bother of flying home right away. Too bad, considering that they already won the World Championship twice.

Anyway, the comic I found in the newspapers here shows that at least the people can still laugh about it.
