My friend Derek called and his older-brother John and sister-in-law Janni invited me to join their kids Elouise and Matthew and some friends in a trip to the Grampions for the weekend. We went for a wine and food festival and to see their friends band called Parisianne Swing, a fun jazzy French string band. A highlight of the trip was late Saturday night after dinner when we all sat around and played music, imagine a campfire style sing-a-long with a stand up base. It was so nice of Derek’s family to extend the invitation to me and make me feel so welcome. We tasted lots of great Australian wines and enjoyed some wonderful hikes and views of the Grampions. In the early evenings and early mornings we would see wild kangaroos, large-white cockatoos, and rainbow lorikeets. We finished off a great weekend by driving to a lookout point and going for one last hike.
