This is our journal’s first entry – written mostly as an experiment in creating one and posting to it. Departure from Honolulu is less than two weeks away, and it was only during this past weekend that serious attention began to be paid to maps, distances, Metro stations, restaurants, etc. (This is Doug talking; Lennie’s been on top of it for weeks.)
At any rate, the map being posted with this entry pretty much shows the location of our mid-trip destination – an apartment on Rue de la Croix-Nivert, in Paris’s 15th arrondisment, not far from the Eiffel Tower (top). The red cross on the map appropriately enough shows the general location.
But our first stop will be a one-night layover in New York followed by breakfast in Manhattan with long-time friend, former client and mass transit expert John Marino and his wife. Then, off to Zurich and a week in Megeve, in the French Alps.
In the meantime, and to keep us grounded, we've posted pictures of what we're calling our "leave behinds" here in Honolulu. Aloha........
