Ok... so, as it turns out, Marrakesh is slightly further away than Scott had guessed from the map... all told, it took about 26 hours for us to travel from Madrid to Marrakesh. oops

Anyways, we have arrived at the Hotel Ali in Marrakesh which is located right next to the big main square in the Medina. This square is ridiculously amazing! During the daytime there are guys with monkeys wandering around... stands selling freshly squeezed orange juice... snake charmers with their cobras (oh yes, i said cobras... Danielle couldn't even look at them without getting scared)... at night they set up all these outdoor food stands that sold loads of Kebaps, then we could wander around the square and take in a Magic show, or watch some drummers, or some belly dancing... a really exciting and exotic place.

We also took some time to explore the Souks (tiny alleyways) around the medina (old town). These were filled with lots of little shops where we spent much time haggling and trying to get "happy prices" (what did we buy? You'll have to wait till we return...). We capped off our last night in Marrakesh with dinner on the terrace above our hotel and a Carriage ride through the town and palace.

Tommorrow we will be starting a three day tour of the mountains and Sahara desert... should be interesting

PS - scott got a haircut and may have accidently asked for a number 2 razor...
