After a good night´s sleep on the bus I arrived in Córdoba once again. As I had another 7 hours before my bus to Montevideo left, I decided to explore the city a little more. This time I had better luck with my sightseeing: both the Jesuit Mission´s church and the Cathedral were open. And they were both splendid - but I liked the Cathedral best. Iit was absolutely amazing with lots of gold and marble of all clolours. I was really glad that I had a chance to see that.
All in all, the city grew on me on second sight. The weather was lovely, and I bought myself a nice big cone of ice cream (GRIDO - the best ice cream ever, and their shops are all over town) and sat down on Plaza San Martín to watch the world go by. Córdoba is a city with a very elegant pedestrian area and lots of adorable cafés. I tried one, "Il Gatto", and I found it great value - for a capucchino, sparkling water and a glas of freshly squeezed orange juice I paid less than $ 4 - in one of the most fashionable cafés of the city. As the peso is rather low, now is a great time to go to Argentina.
The only thing lamentable was that it was saturday - and at 2pm all the shops closed. So there was nothing left for me to do but walk back very slowly to the bus terminal. I had bought another book, Zorro by Isabel Allende, soo when I arrived I had something to entertain me until the bus came.
On the way back, I travelled with EGA - if you have the choice between EGA and Encon, chose EGA - nicer buses, better food!
