The Pearl of the Adriatic

Catching up a bit here: Yesterday I was in Dubrovnik, a seaside town that was once a world power to rival the Italians. Now, due to its picturesque location and quaint city walls, its a tourist mecca. I cant upload pics of it right now, but I will do so as soon as possible. I walked the city walls and toured the limestone streets for 3 nights.

Being in Dubrovnik though, I realized something a little funny. All throughout Eastern Europe people are skinny. This is probably due to having to walk everywhere and climb stairs all damn day long. But the Cruise ships come to Dubrovnik. I suddenly realized I was around my own countrymen when I was surrounded by obese people. I dont mean people that have a little heft either. I mean those people that have to use carts to get around on. How sad is that? That I notice people from my country, not by their accents or anything like that, but by their inability to live a normal life...

Other than that though, Dubrovnik was absolutely beautiful. A sea resort that truly lives up to its nickname.

Next entry: Once beautiful
