Okay,
I tried updating yesterday, and wrote my entire journal only to have it deleted! Then did it again and it deleted again! So today I am on a different computer so hopefully this will work!
Okay so Bastia was...boring. It was really small and there was nothing much to do, especially since we were there on a Sunday when everything is closed... We started out sunday eating breakfast at a little cafe. There was a market/garagesale/kids soccor tournament going on in the square so we walked around that for a bit. Since there were no Museums or anything in the city we thought we would take advantage of the free time by doing our laundry. Only to find that it too was closed. Urgh. So we hung out in our hotel and napped etc. That night we went to another cafe for dinner: We ahd paninis and really oily gross salad. It was only 7, but with nothing better to do we went to a nice outside bar and ordered a bottle of wine....and then another. Lol it was fun but we were in bed by 11 to catch the boat early the next morning.
We got on the boat the next day with baguette sandwiches for breakfast and headed away from Corsica much to our relief...
On board Morgan was all excited about the fact that the cafe served slushies so she bought a green one expecting it to be apple or kiwi or some such fruit. Much to her chagrin it was mint!!! The most disgusting thing I have ever tasted! It was like drinking mouthwash! Watching her try to get through it cause it was 2.50 Euro was interesting until she gave up and threw it out. After a while we got hungry and decided to go to the "Spaghetteria" on board for some pasta. Morgan got three bites into hers before realizing that the sauce contained almonds. She swelled up and had trouble breathing. It was kinda scary but shes all right now cause we rushed to the doctors office on board and they gave her a shot to reverse the effects...stupid boat with its mint slushies and nuts...
Anyway, when we got back to Nice we hopped on a train and made our way to Genova. We were planning to go all the way to Florence but we would have made it there really late. When we got here we decided to stay two nights...
So today we woke up and took the bus into the city center. On our walk to the Aquarium at the harbour we stopped for pizza at a little restaurant. IT WAS AMAZING!! One of the best pizzas i have ever had...
We got to the aquarium...which is the biggest in Europe. Unlike the one in Barcelona it had dolphins and seals!!! And one really big ugly fish that I will posty in a picture when I can...It was really neat. On our way out of the Aquarium we saw a bio dome which was a huge green house sphere. We went in and inside was an ecosystem of butterflys, igunanas and birds...really awesome!
After that we stopped for something to drink and walked to the old city to look at some of the palaces. We also stopped by the opera house and bought really cheap tickets to the symphony tonight!!!! We are going to have a nice dinner ten go so that should be fun! tomorrow we haead to Pisa then on to Florence!
Italy is beautiful...
