Arriving at Himalaya's feet

After the first days in Delhi that have been full of heat, dirt, traffic, noise but funbringing, exciting evenings & cultural impressions as well we have come here to Rishikesh, 250km north of Delhi, which is at the feet of Himalaya. A place where the river Ganges still seems to be very clean. We left Delhi last Saturday 6.55 am by train (after making the once-in-a-lifetime-buying-tix-at-New-Delhi-Railways-station-experience :o) ) and arrived in Haridwar by noon time where we connected by bus to Rishikesh. By Auto-Rikkscha & river Ganges crossing ferry we made the last step to our hotel. So, basically we're enyoing here the laid-back atmosphere & we find it kind of funny to watch all the people taking Yoga-lessons, studying Hinduism & becoming Gadhus - orange-robed men wearing Rastas, long beards & living a life full of worship. Beside that the north-indian food is just great, the weather is even better (35 degrees, which is really pleasant) & the nights hanging out at the beaches of river ganges or on one of the roof top restaurants are definitely the best. This morning we did a 20km Ganges river rafting tour which turned out to be a splashy wetty funtrip. The plan for the next days to come is to head further north to Mussoorie where we wanna do some treks and see some of the tibetean refugee camps and by the end of the week we want to be at Dharamsala where we will meet up with Clara who is coming over from Delhi for the weekend. If I will be able to upload some pictures in the next days I'm not sure. But latest when we are back in Delhi I will do so. The we are also preparing our 2nd trip which will most probably take us to Varanasi (oldest city of the world) & Agra (Taj Mahal). So, as you can see we pretty much enjoy ourselves. Even if not everything is perfect like things take time or you have to be patient to get things arranged. At the end of the day even in India things can work out - slowly, but surely! So stay tunded! PS: While having written these lines I got carefully watched by two holy cows starring at me through the opened window of the Internet-Shop I'm just sitting in.
