NICE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!! Oh man... today we went down to the water and it was SO blue. it's unbelievable the colour. It looks like a postcard! Actually I never used to believe postcards I thought the colour was always digitally redone but I saw the real thing today and they can't digitally redo the real thing and I'm tellin you its actually that colour! I'll try and attach a pic so you can see it.
Last night we got all prettied up and went out for dinner. I had the best pasta i've ever tasted (although we're not in Italy yet so hopefully it'll get even better!) but DAMN was it good pasta. I asked hte man what was in it and he said "oh...bonbon." I said uh... excuse me? he said oh yes bonbon bonbon. I'm pretty sure there wasn't candy in it, or "good good"... so I still don't know what was in it!
We had a champagne cocktail at this place overlooking the sea, and then we ordered a crepe with chocolate, bananas, ice cream and whipped cream. Except that Jenn doesn't really like chocolate and I don't really like bananas and neither of us are fans of whipped cream so why we got that crepe and paid eight euro for it I don't know... but, it seemed like the thing to do.
Today we slept in a bit. Thank god... it appears that jenn can go for night after night with only five or six hours sleep and keep on goin but I certainly can't! so the extra sleep was definately helpful!
we walked back down to this little street of shops we had found yesterday and bought some necklaces. we didn't buy them yesterday but since we were still thinkin about them today we figured we should go get them. mine's a pretty blue flower and I like it! Jenn got a pink heart. yes pink....what a surprise!
We went to the musee de Matisse. I understood it about as much as I understood the modern art yesterday. which isn't much. I just don't get it... I know I saw famous pieces and stuff like I recognized them.. .but hell if I nkow what they mean. it makes me feel kind of uneducated... like I know they're supposed to be good but to me they look like a five year old drew some of them in art class. I just don't get it. I'll have to get Grant to explain it to me when I get back!
Right next to that mueseum was the musee de l'archeologie which wsa built next to some Gallo Roman ruins. it was the basements of a couple of Roman bathouses and you could see the sewar systems and some of the walls and arches and htings. then there was the remains of a paved street and some shops, and quite a bit of an old "paleochristian" church from about 5 AD. VERY cool to see! I touched a wall that a roman built! it was amazing!
We're on our way now out to walk along hte boarwalk to see what we see. it's going to be an early night though because tomorrow we're going off to Corsica and we have to be at the boat at 715 AM!! I'm hopin Corsica is going to be a whole lotta swimming and and not a whole lotta anything else. it's time to swim in the mediterrenean. I really have to learn how to spell that word.
anyways, I miss everyone, keep leaving me phone and email messages!!
