Hi there folks,thought you would like an update,cos I know you love hearing from me. Yesterday we flew back to Lima from Iquitos - leaving behind lots of blood in mosquitos tummies!!!! We had a big group of Americans on the plane, man oh man, they were on a tour doing Peru in 3 days, or something equally ridiculous!!! Seems they ALL brought tacky blow guns from the Jungle - not a patch on the stylish seed jewellery that me and Sue brought.
Back to our Hotel,and a trip down to our favourite American Style mall by the beach for some normal food,after living on fish and bananas. Hot Dogs all round!!! Yummo. Then, for fun, we went to a Movie. Miss Congeniality 2. What a load of crap!!!! Still, it was pleasant enough to wile away the afternoon. There were 4 of us in the theatre, and the other 2 left halfway through the movie - so it was funny when it finished and 3 theatre cleaners rushed in with brooms and rubbish bags....I felt like leaving behind my rubbish just to give them something to do. Had some Icecream from a wonderful place, Chocolate Icecream with real bits of Chocolate Cake in it! Delicious. Did some internet surfing,and then raided the local service station for coke, chips and chocolate - who says we are in a third world country!
Back to our beds, wonderful ones they are, when you sit on the mattrass, it takes about 5 minutes for it to go back into shape. This time only 2 bunks, so Sue was on top, we felt that was safer than me!
Early rise this morning and caught the bus to Pisco. All was well on the bus, it was only 3 hours long. We arrived in Pisco, and was followed down the street by about 20 tour operators wanting our business.Lucky our Hostal was close,still, some of them came in, and waited for us to exit our room, and I had a shower first!!
Our room is luxury compared to all the others we have had. Wide beds, light, flash bathroom, actual hot water (first hot shower in 2 weeks) modern, bedside lamp, and TV!!!!!!!!! We may just live in Pisco forever.
Explored the town, and booked some activities for the next few days. Had some lunch, ordered hamburgers. They were funny, Sues was two slices of bread,with a pattie and a piece of cheese in it. Mine had an egg as well, but no bread on the other end, so to pick it up you had one side with a slice of bread, and one side with a fried egg!!!!
Shopped around, both brought hats as we are off to the Ballestos Islands tomorrow, full of birds, and apparently they are good at shitting on your head. Sue got a great top. We sunned ourselves in the plaza over a diet coke and a cookie.
Went for a gamble...there are so many slot machine parlours over here. No pub, just gambling. I did well, came out even, Sue lost 6 soles (about $3.00NZ) Was a bit of fun, but they play it very noisy here, hitting the buttons with lots of gusto!
Now it is dark, soon we will head off for some tea. Not much else to do here, as the place is very very small. Maybe a few beers tonight, and try Pisco, we have been invited to a party at a disco, so we will see. Knowing us couple of Nanas, we will be in bed asleep at the 10.00pm meeting time!

Oh, just to let you all know that after 10 days, I am finally stomach ache free, and feeling 100% which is a huge relief.
