Hey Everyone,

How are you all? There are some of you that I haven’t heard from at all. Remember you can mail me through the site and also leave messages in the guest book. Come on don’t be so lazy. Well its been a while and although I am in Sydney I am going to fill you in on my trip round the south island of New Zealand.

Well we took the ferry to the south island from Wellington. The boat trip itself is like a mini cruise as you get great views of the Marlborough sounds as you are coming in. Our first port of call was a little town called Picton. Not much to do there but as the weather was so good we stayed for 2 nights and just sunbathed all day. The hostel here was cool. It was called the Villa. It was really nice and you got free apple crumble every night. After Picton we headed to Nelson. Didn’t do much here either just took advantage of the sun. After our fun packed 3 weeks in the North we were ready for some chillin. We headed to a little town called Takaka after Nelson. The town is at the end of the Abel Tasman track so we did some of that which was really nice. We also seen the Pupu springs. Pretty boring but I like the name.

After Takaka we headed to Franz Josef to see the glacier. The weather got much chillier here which was a bit of a shock after nearly 2 months of heat. It was still sunny just chilly. We stayed for 3 nights as the hostel was really nice and also cos we went on the piss and couldn’t be arsed moving. This is also where we did the Glacier “WALK”. Walk my arse. It was a 7 hour hike up a block of ice. It was so tough. I couldn’t walk for bout 3 day after. I was so stiff I was like a surfboard. It was really nice though seeing the crevasse and the blue ice but I just thought it was going to be a little stroll. Well at least we can say we did it.

After Franz we went to a beautiful town called Wanaka. It is so stunning here. We stayed in a hostel that was like a big alpine lodge with huge windows overlooking the lake. The lake was surrounded by huge mountains and it was just beautiful to look at. We also went to a great place called Puzzling world and the coolest cinema in the world with the best homemade cookies.

After Wanaka we went to Queenstown the adventure capital of NZ. You can basically do all the maddest things you have ever thought of here. Myself and ken though decided to go on the rip for the 3 days. We met a great couple Becky and Pete and went out all weekend with them. We did book Hot Air Ballooning but it got cancelled as it SNOWED. Yes snow. We couldn’t believe it. Just one day and the next day was lovely. Strange. We are doing the ballooning in Sydney in a few weeks.

Our next stop was Milford Sound which is actually a fjord. We traveled here with Becky and Pete and did the cruise of the sound with them. It is absolutely gorgeous. We seen dolphins and seals. It was great.

After Milford we headed up the east coast through Dunedin, Omaoru and Christchurch. We didn’t do much except bits is sightseeing. We just chilled and had a few drinks. By that stage we were ready to stop for a while. There was one eventful night in Christchurch when the owners of the hostel got into our room and said we burnt the carpet with the iron and were threatening the police. Funny looking back but I was a bit worried at the time.

Our last stop in NZ was back in Auckland with our Kiwi parents Chris and Maree. Loved it there and will defo go back to them. We had so much fun.

Well to sum NZ up. Beautiful, fun, Stunning, Load to do. All round fantastic.

Gotta go. Will fill you in on Sydney soon. We are loving it.

Love
Emma and Ken
